Very recognised for ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace

October 15, 2024

The Very Group has been awarded a silver accreditation by Diversity in Retail for its ongoing commitment to making Very a more diverse and inclusive workplace.

The Group received praise for embedding inclusion throughout the employee and customer experience. And, thanks to the ongoing introduction of initiatives and learning opportunities, the business was recognised for having leaders who are equipped with the skills to lead inclusively.

As part of the accreditation process, Diversity in Retail conducts an in-depth assessment via the EDI Maturity Curve which has been designed to help organisations self-assess their approach to equity, diversity & inclusion (EDI).

Developed in partnership with the Centre for Diversity Policy Research and Practice at Oxford Brookes Business School, this framework provides organisations with valuable insights to refine their EDI strategy.

The assessment also identified that the Group has set targets and has accountability frameworks in place for creating a diverse and inclusive workplace.

Earlier this year, the Group also announced it had become a ‘Disability Confident Committed Employer’ and launched a brand-new disability awareness colleague network. DAWN is one of latest colleague networks to be introduced, joining networks such as RAVE, LGBT+, FAVE, MIND, THINK, GENS and WAVE. These networks have been created to embrace and celebrate diversity within the organisation.

Sarah Willett, chief people officer and D&I exec sponsor commented: “Here at The Very Group we recognise the importance of creating environments where everyone feels included. For this reason, we continue to invest in creating a culture where our people know they belong and are supported to grow. This accreditation from Diversity in Retail is a significant milestone in our journey toward building a truly equitable and inclusive workplace.”
