Henry joined The Very Group in May 2018, having previously been chief executive officer of FTSE 250-listed Rank Group plc. During his four years at Rank Group, Henry led the business through a wide-reaching strategic overhaul to create the UK’s largest multichannel gaming operator. Prior to joining Rank, Henry spent four years as CEO of William Hill Online, where he launched the company’s mobile business. He started his career working in the House of Commons and holds an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Andy leads the 275-strong technology team as The Very Group continues to invest in and transform its technology and platforms. He joined the company in May 2019 from The Stars Group, a global leader in online gaming, where he became a director following the company’s merger with Sky Betting and Gaming in 2018. Over a nine-year period at Sky Betting and Gaming in roles including CTO and director of technology, Andy transformed the technology team, growing headcount 40-fold to 700, establishing the business’ in-house development capabilities and helping the company become the UK’s largest online gaming operator by number of customers.
Ben joined The Very Group in January 2020 and leads our 150-strong finance team. He was previously European president at Clarks Shoes where he was responsible for customer-centric investments including a new European fulfilment centre; delivering digital expansion and increasing colleague engagement. Prior to joining Clarks Shoes, Ben was at Walgreens Boots Alliance for six years. As managing director of Boots Opticians, he consistently grew the business’ market share, revenue, profit and EBITDA year-on-year. Between 1999 and 2011, Ben held a series of senior finance positions at Procter & Gamble worldwide.
Chief operating officer
Phil joined the board of The Very Group in 2016 and leads the teams responsible for logistics, fulfilment and customer experience. He joined the company from Pets At Home, where he was executive director overseeing logistics, supply and business systems. Prior to Pets At Home, he was logistics director at Tech Data, a leading global IT distribution business.
Financial services CEO
Tommy joined The Very Group as financial services CEO in January 2019. Having started out his career in strategy consultancy, Tommy has held a series of senior executive roles in a range of digital and multi-channel businesses across the retail banking, foreign exchange, cards, payments and consumer finance sectors.
Managing director, retail
Sam was promoted to the executive board in April 2018, having spent three years as group merchandising director. In this role, he led work to develop data-driven, dynamic pricing and helped to grow categories like sportswear, where The Very Group is now the UK’s top online seller. Sam has played a central role in delivering three successive, high growth peak trading periods. He joined The Very Group from Tesco, where he spent over seven years in various commercial director roles.
Chief people officer
Sarah has been at The Very Group since 2009, playing an instrumental role in delivering the organisational change and embedding the purpose and values that have supported our transformation during her time in the wide-ranging role of people director. Having joined the executive board in January 2019, she now oversees our entire people agenda. Sarah was previously head of HR at M&S.
